Nevada, Texas square off for Tesla battery plant
In the end.. it will boil down to this..."In addition to its deeper pockets, Texas has stronger workforce development" (from USA Today article below).I've been here in NV for over 20 years. For 20 years I've heard "NV lacks a trained technical workforce". Have the local "Community Colleges" helped ?? (actually Great Basic College does a pretty good job).. But... uhhh.. NO !! (Hey TMCC.. what happened to that "Manufacturing Technologies Program" ??.... I seem to remember a $390,000 grant..... hmmmm)....
IF we do get the Tesla plant, I'll bet we will have to provide the "workforce development" funding (there will be a truckload of Training money ponied up by the State). Lets hope it goes to some PRIVATE sector training companies so some actual training takes place....
